"Growing up in Toronto, I was surrounded by some of the best hockey talent in the world. I played with and against elite-level players from a young age—but like many athletes, I often went unnoticed. While I had the skill and work ethic, I struggled with something less talked about but just as important: the mental side of the game.
The pressure to perform, the fear of failure, the constant comparison to others—I didn’t know how to handle it. At 16, I committed to play Division 1 hockey at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. It felt like the right move at the time—everyone around me was committing, and I wanted to feel like I belonged. But I didn’t have the guidance or maturity to realize it wasn’t the right fit, or that I was making a decision to keep up, not based on what I truly wanted.
By the time I was 19, due to a mix of circumstances that my 16-year-old self hadn’t considered, I lost that scholarship. That moment sent me into one of the darkest places of my life. I was still playing, but my confidence was gone. I was battling with self-doubt every time I touched the ice. It became clear: if I wanted another chance, I had to figure out my mental game—fast.
Through trial, failure, and a lot of internal work, I did just that. I was fortunate enough to earn a new scholarship and eventually graduated from Colgate University where I had four successful seasons, something I’m extremely proud of. But the road to get there wasn’t clean or glamorous. It was full of tough lessons, emotional highs and lows, and moments where I seriously considered giving it all up.
That experience is exactly why I joined Dialed In Sports Mentoring.
I wanted to create the kind of support system I wish I had when I was going through it. I’ve lived the ups and downs of elite hockey. I’ve made the wrong decisions. I’ve dealt with the mental stress that most players keep bottled up. And now, I want to help young athletes navigate those same challenges—before they feel stuck or lost like I once did.
Whether it's building confidence, making smarter career decisions, or simply having someone to talk to who gets it—I'm here to help. Because this game is tough. But with the right mindset, mentorship, and support, it doesn’t have to break you.
I'm still on this journey myself as I begin my professional career, and I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned along the way."
